Smokefree Norfolk success

A group of staff at a Great Yarmouth marine engineering company have quit smoking together thanks to specialist support from Smokefree Norfolk.

With the backing of their bosses, eleven staff at SEACON, who manufacture a range of underwater electrical and fiber optic connectors, pledged to give up smoking at the start of November. Smokefree Norfolk worked with them offering advice, support and special techniques to stop them giving in to temptation.

After 6 sessions with the Smokefree team at SEACON’s site, seven of the original group are now completely ‘smokefree’.

Stop Smoking Specialist Advisor Andy Trohear said: “The group was a pleasure to work with and have done amazingly well. With expert support and encouragement, you’re up to four times more likely to quit smoking, and with our specially created plans you’re more likely to quit for good.”

Suzanne Spooner from SEACON said: “We wanted to encourage as many smokers on our staff as possible to give up the habit for the sake of their health and that of their families. We’re really proud of those who succeeded and very grateful to Smokefree Norfolk for helping them achieve this.”
