ECCH wins Norfolk Care Award

ECCH’s Primary Care Home team for the Great Yarmouth area has won a prestigious Norfolk Care Award. Their work with the Vineries Care Home in Hemsby earned the two organisations first prize in the Collaborative Working category.

The Norfolk Care Awards showcases excellence and recognises commitment to delivering high quality care across Norfolk. The event was held at Sprowston Manor Hotel.

The Primary Care Home team has worked with the Vineries to provide ‘beds with care’ for patients who do not need to be admitted to hospital but require extra support. The team is made up of clinicians from different disciplines including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, paramedics and diabetes nurses.

ECCH has four Primary Care Home teams covering Great Yarmouth and the northern villages, Gorleston, Lowestoft and South Waveney. They also visit patients in their own homes, liaising with their GPs and providing care support, equipment, medication management, mobility practice and exercises, meal preparation, general health advice and support.

Organisers Claire Gilbert and Tracy Wharvell said: "This event raises the profile of working in care and supporting people to live their lives. We are humbled and impressed each year when we visit services - there is some great practice in Norfolk. This event enables us to 'give back', to the care sector, which we are both incredibly proud to be associated with, allowing us to say a big 'thank you' to all the unsung heroes."
