Local charities receive ECCH donations

A charity which supports bereaved children and another which helps less able adults get cycling have received funding boosts from East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH).

Bike Active North Suffolk has received £1,000 from ECCH’s East Coast Support Fund to which staff can apply on behalf of charities and local projects which they feel would benefit from donations. Bike Active North Suffolk is based in Halesworth and its volunteers deliver cycling sessions to people who are recovering from a minor illness or injury, people with visual impairments, complex needs and learning and/or physical difficulties. The money will go towards a side-by-side tandem which enables a cyclist to be accompanied by a volunteer who is in control of the bike.

Nelson’s Journey, which helps bereaved children and young people in Norfolk understand and cope with their feelings, supports professionals who work with them, and raises awareness of issues affecting them, also received £1,000. This money was raised by staff through ticket sales to their annual awards event.

Simon Wright, Chief Executive of Nelson’s Journey, said: “We are hugely grateful to the ECCH team for choosing to support our services for local bereaved children and young people. We can only fund and provide these services through donations generously given. It means a lot to know that our team’s work is so valued by those providing health and care support in our community.”

ECCH provides NHS community health services across Norfolk and Suffolk and has its headquarters in Lowestoft. As a Community Interest Company, it reinvests any surplus resources into its services and into good causes to benefit the local community.
