ECCH tops national results for staff flu vaccinations

ECCH is the highest performing health organisation in the UK for staff flu vaccinations for the second-year running.

77% of ECCH frontline staff were vaccinated during the 2025/26 NHS vaccination campaign to protect them and their patients from the potentially deadly virus.

This performance exceeds both regional and national averages. Uptake for health organisations in the East of England was 48.5% and the national average was 46%.

ECCH also led the table last year with 75% take-up and challenged itself to beat that figure in the latest campaign which took place between October and March.

Our Infection Prevention and Control Team played a key role in this success by introducing dedicated ‘flu crews’ across the organisation’s sites in Great Yarmouth and Waveney to make it easy for staff to drop in for their vaccinations wherever they were working. They also attended team meetings to educate colleagues on the dangers of contracting flu and publicised their running total on a weekly basis, so everyone knew how close they were to reaching an impressive target.

Executive Director of Quality and People Geraldine Rodgers said: “We are delighted that we have achieved the highest uptake in the country. Our Infection Control Team and Flu Crew team do a fantastic job in supporting and encouraging everyone to be vaccinated. It is vital that our teams feel confident that they are protecting themselves, our patients, and their families. They take pride in providing the highest quality care, and protecting themselves from the flu virus is a simple but essential element of that.”
