East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH) has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Employee Owned Business of the Year’ category at the UK Employee Ownership Awards 2026.

The awards celebrate the achievements of companies that empower their employees to make an impact on their business, with a focus on innovation and improving staff wellbeing.

At East Coast Community Healthcare 78% of staff have taken up the option to buy a share in the business for £1. They do not receive dividends because all surplus resources from ECCH are invested in enhancing services and supporting good causes within the local community. Instead, they are consulted on important issues that affect the business through a Shareholder Council chaired by two elected staff directors who are voting members of ECCH’s Board.

The winners will be revealed on Wednesday 10 June at the Library of Birmingham as part of the eoaLive! annual conference.
