East Coast Community Healthcare to host ‘Diabetes Awareness’ Event

East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH) is hosting an event in Great Yarmouth to raise awareness of diabetes, and to mark World Diabetes Day.

In Norfolk and Waveney, Great Yarmouth has the highest number of people with prediabetes - this means blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as Type 2 diabetes.

The Diabetes Awareness event will be held at the Marina Leisure Centre on Thursday 14th November from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. Healthcare professionals from ECCH’s Podiatry, Neurology, Dietetics and Cardiac Rehab Services will be on hand to offer advice and support to those living with diebetes and also their family and carers.

The event has been organised in partnership with other organisations who will be attending, including East Norfolk Medical Practice, Reed Wellbeing, Different Strokes, Slimming World, Everyone Active and Xyla – National Diabetes Prevention Programme.

ECCH is a social enterprise which provides NHS community health services across Norfolk and Suffolk and uses any surplus resources to benefit the local community.
