Menopause Friendly Accreditation

At ECCH, we are working to achieve menopause friendly accreditation, which is an industry recognised mark of excellence. Our aim is to:

  • change mindsets and attitudes towards menopause
  • enable everyone to understand what menopause is and be able to talk about it openly
  • help everyone to understand that it isn’t just an issue for women, everyone needs to know about it so they can support colleagues, friends and family
  • enable those experiencing menopause symptoms to feel confident to discuss it, and ask for support if they need it to continue being happy and successful at work
  • ensure managers understand menopause and are confident to have good conversations and know how to help.

The facts

Menopausal women are the fastest-growing workplace demographic - nearly 8 in 10 are in work, with the average age of menopause being 51. Menopause symptoms are experienced by 3 in 4 women of this age, and as many as 1 in 4 consider leaving work as a result, so it’s important we provide an inclusive workplace and focus on colleague wellbeing.

Menopause Advocates

We have 5 trained Menopause Advocates in the organisation, who can offer support to staff, as well as providing guidance and training to ECCH managers.

Menopause Cafés

We also run Menopause Cafés, which are drop-in sessions for colleagues who want to chat about the menopause with others going through the same experiences.
