Speech and Language Therapy for Children and Young People

We deliver Speech and Language Therapy for children and young people aged 0-19 in Norfolk and Waveney with speech, language and communication needs.

We provide support in their everyday environment such as at school, nursery or in a Children’s Centre rather than in clinics as evidence shows that this is more effective than traditional methods for meeting their communication needs.

ECCH therapists provide specialist support and also train others, including the family and teachers of a child or young person, in order to support their communication development closer to home.

We have produced an FAQ leaflet for parents.

Speech and Language Therapy Ladders Book

A book to help youngsters with communication difficulties get the most from their schooling has been written by speech and language therapists from East Coast Community Healthcare. The book, called ‘Target Ladders: Speech, Language and Communication Needs’, is for early years settings staff, primary school teachers and special educational needs coordinators. It aims to help them identify targets children need to achieve and plan activities to help them with listening skills, remembering, understanding/learning new words, speech sound skills and building sentences – skills which will make learning easier. It comes with a CD of resource material including target templates and progress records.
