Looked After Children Service
The Looked after children service ensures that all children who enter the care system have an Initial Health Assessment carried out by a registered medical practitioner.
Following the Initial Health Assessment, each subsequent review health assessment will be completed either by a health visitor every six months (if the child is under five years old) or by the Looked after Children Nurse who will undertake an annual review health assessment (if the child is older than five).
As well as undertaking the health assessments, the nurses support and offer training to foster carers, social workers.
Our ECCH team consists of two qualified nurses and one administrator. The service works very closely within the multi-agency forum to ensure timely completion of health assessments and appropriate referrals as needed.
Children/young people are referred to us by Social Care services.
