The Health Visiting Service provides services to families/carers with children aged 0-5 years of age registered with GPs in Lowestoft and Waveney.
The aim of this service is to deliver the following through the Healthy Child Programme which includes:
- Antenatal contact
- A new birth visit within 14 days
- 6-8 week assessment
- 1 year assessment
- 2- 2 ½ year assessment
If a family moves into the area they will also be contacted by the Health Visiting Service who can support new parents by
- Providing information, advice and resources and signposting to Children’s Centres and self-help groups
- Advising on specific issues such as breastfeeding, immunisations, postnatal depression and weaning
- Advising on parenting, sleep routines and behaviour boundaries
Health visiting team members visit families in their own homes, and deliver a number of child health clinics across the area.

Referrals to this service can be accepted from Healthcare or Social Care professionals and directly from patients who can self-refer.
